Today we have one more amazing real life experience of psoriasis healing. I was reading various articles on the internet about gluten and dairy connection with psoriasis. While exploring various articles, I come across an interesting discussion forum where Mrs. Audrey shared her real life experience. She explained how a gluten and dairy free, healthy psoriasis diet helped her and her stepdaughter to heal their psoriasis. Here,it is interesting to note that her stepdaughter is also having psoriasis.
Psoriasis had become a part of Audrey’s life since a long time. Periodic psoriasis flare ups and remission were quite a normal thing in Audrey’s life. Her stepdaughter was also suffering from psoriasis. Apart from psoriasis, her stepdaughter was dealing with a variety of other medical issues. A few months ago, a dietician and Naturopathy expert advised her stepdaughter to follow a restricted psoriasis diet, avoiding various allergic foods like gluten and dairy to heal psoriasis and other medical conditions. Audrey also found this idea interesting. She was experiencing a psoriasis flare up at that time and was desperately looking for some relief. They both followed gluten and casein (dairy) free diet religiously. Apart from that, they would eat a lot of raw vegetables and fruits. They would avoid foods high in fats and proteins. After about a month, these was a significant improvement in their psoriasis and Audrey’s psoriasis flare up was not existing any more. Her stepdaughter also experienced quite amazing results in her psoriasis and other medical issues. In the meantime, her stepdaughter got tested for various food allergies and she was found allergic to wheat gluten and dairy, both. Her stepdaughter was found allergic to a number of other things as well. In Audrey’s opinion, avoiding allergens whatever they are, is crucial. Wheat gluten, dairy and nightshades are the most common allergens which can trigger inflammatory responses of your body. This is the reason that most of the dieticians and health experts do recommend going gluten and dairy free for holistic healing of various inflammatory diseases and autoimmune disorders. Even after recovering significantly, Audrey continued with this diet and she was almost close to psoriasis free skin. After three months, Audrey joined a new job. At the time of joining this job, her skin was psoriasis free and hence she didn’t find it necessary to tell about this disease to her colleagues. In this way, she started giving a skip to her diet regimen. Her mind gave her false excuses that she didn’t need any dietary restrictions any more because she was not yet tested positive for wheat and dairy allergies. In that office, her diet was loaded with wheat and dairy. Within a week, her psoriasis was back like anything. She experienced a severe flare up. She immediately adopted back her gluten and dairy free diet. Also, she is getting tested for various possible allergens including wheat and dairy.
Interestingly, Audrey and her stepdaughter are not related to each other biologically. Still, they both have psoriasis and both experienced amazingly positive results by quitting wheat gluten and dairy.
For Audrey and her stepdaughter, diet and psoriasis are closely linked to each other. She advised other people (having psoriasis) to try wheat gluten and dairy free diet for a few weeks if it improves their skin condition. Also, she is a big supporter of the claim that people having psoriasis should get tested for various allergens.

What is the problem with wheat gluten and dairy
Gluten in wheat is the most evil food allergen for people dealing with autoimmune disorders followed by casein in dairy. These hard to breakdown proteins can seep through the damaged gut linings to your bloodstream. The immune system would consider them as foreign invaders to trigger an auto-immune reaction and worsen your psoriasis symptoms.
Also, both these foods, wheat gluten and dairy, contains arachidonic acid which is an unsaturated fatty acid. This acid can produce further produce various inflammation causing substances in your body. Hence, wheat gluten and dairy can cause skin inflammation if your body is sensitive to these foods.

Psoriasis Diet- The game changer
When we talk about holistic healing of psoriasis, diet is the most important factor to consider. Without widespread changes in your diet, long term psoriasis healing is not possible. Eating a diet full of raw fruits and vegetables, avoiding common food allergens, avoiding processed/ junk foods full of salt, sugar and saturated fats- psoriasis diet means consuming foods which are easy to process and put least possible burden on your body metabolism.
